Welcome to the Summer Term…

We hope you all enjoyed your time away from school and are ready and raring to go for the Summer Term.

Lauriston Wiki

I am trying to create a wiki all about Lauriston Primary School. A wiki is a website that allows visitors to add, remove, edit and change content. To find out more go to Wikipedia. Hopefully in time, we will build up a history of Lauriston, with some photos of the various buildings including the new building which is due to be finished in September 2009.

Assaf, Gimme That Beat…

Today we had a treat in assembly.  Assaf, a drummer, came into to wow us with his talents.  He told us about how he learnt the drums and gave us all some advice… if you want to become good at an instrument, it is best to start young and practice every day.  He said the best thing he ever did to improve his talent was to get rid of his TV and spend more time practising – and he certainly was good.

Computers for Schools

Every year we collect Tesco ‘Computers for Schools’ vouchers. Please ask your colleagues, friends and family to donate their vouchers to Lauriston. Over the last two years we have bought 5 digital movie creators and 5 Bee-bot robots.

Red Nose Day

Friday the 16th March is Red Nose Day.  We are asking all children to dress up in red and/or oversized clothes.  Children are allowed to bring in a donation for charity if they like.

No Smoking Day

As it was national No Smoking Day, a Ready, Steady, Quit bus came to our school.  Adults could have their levels of carbon monoxide measured and were given packs to help them stop smoking.  Children could also take away some information to pass on to people they know who smoke.
